Hello June..and my newest addition & Project Life.

June already crazy how fast this year is going by, I have been so very pre-occupied with my beautiful baby boy that I haven't given any attention to my blog. Sorry blog. I am so excited to introduce my newest family member

Parker-James Christopher Fardell

  1 month old.
He is the sweetest little boy, just adores his big brothers and sisters. He is a very easy going baby (which certainly makes life easier :)) enjoys his food and likes to sleep well at night. There have been a few hiccups with him, a tummy bug that landed us both in hospital for three days. Him on a drip and me battling it with lots of hydralite. We have both come down with a cold in the last couple of weeks, unluckily for me mine decided to turn into a chest infection but luckily for our little P-J he only got a slight sniffle and cough.  I am learning what it is like to have a new born in he house again. 10 years and I seemed to have forgotten most things about babies LOL. There are so many amazing new gadgets and gizmo's for babies out there now. We have seen Ipad holders for babies, dummy sterilisers, sleeping bags for babies and many others.  Many new thoughts on what is best for babies and toddlers, plenty of businesses trying to sell me personalised back packs, t-shirts, lunch boxes etc (I am sure I will end up with some of these if and when P-J goes to daycare).
I am enjoying getting my camera out and taking photos of a subject that has no choice but to let mumma take pictures. I have realised though that I really want to be able to take better pictures. I am challenging myself to find a photography challenge blog and play along. Hopefully you will all be able to follow along with me, well baby calls.

Our beautiful budget backyard DIY wedding

We got married only five weeks ago, we had plans for an amazing waterside wedding reception following a big city church wedding unfortunately sometimes life gets in the way. Instead we decided to hold our wedding in the backyard of our home. We invited only 35 of our closest family and friends to be there with us, it was a truly beautiful day.
We only had two months to plan the wedding so we were really had to make sure we knew exactly what we wanted. I started searching up blogs and pintrest for ideas and inspiration and then looked around our house to incorporate our decor and our likes into the whole wedding. Once I had settled on a decorating scheme I liked and had a list of D.I.Y projects I thought I could get done in the time frame I set to work.
Here are a few photos of the table decorations, I purchased some new items but a lot we already had in our own collection.
It is a fun idea to go through your own decorator items that surround you every day. Look at your decor and really get a feel for what your true style is. Trust me it is easy to get caught up in all the beautiful images of other peoples weddings and before you know it your wedding look is mirroring theirs, rather than reflecting your own personal style. Before heading out and buying a whole lot of new decorator items just for one day really look around your house and see what you already own that can be incorporated into your wedding day design.

This gorgeous camera was my Nanna's and I have had it for many years

The books I have been collecting for years, the key was the front door key to my very first house.
The alarm clock sits on my lounge side table and the little hope frame I have had for 5 years, it was used at a friends wedding

A big expense for D.I.Y weddings is the chair and table hire. We dreamed of Tiffany chairs and gorgeous wooden vineyard tables, reality is that these items can set you back at least $1000. By the time you add, dinnerware, table cloths, glassware and serving ware you may as well have a reception centre wedding. Ok I know that you really don't want to have plastic dinnerware and glasses so you need to look a cutting back costs. We found  a hire company that charged us only $1.80 per chair for these lovely plastic chairs and only $10 per table. It cost us under $200 for all our chair and table needs. I bought cheap table cloths from Kmart- $10 and added lace from Ikea ($2.99/m) to the ends of each table cloth to cover the legs of the tables. Added some left over lace to the backs of each chair. People commented on how lovely they looked and that the chairs were really comfortable.
Not a great quality photo I do apologise but you can see the tables and chairs.

When it came to our dinnerware we actually decided to buy it all, we found most of the chain stores stock dinner plates and bread and butter plates in boxes of 10 plain white for around $10, we bought 50 of each. Yes it was a big out lay but to hire you are looking at the same price almost and this way every time we have a party or BBQ we now have plenty of crockery. Ikea has fantastic prices on their glassware, all up for 50 people we spent around $100 for wine glasses, champagne flutes and water glasses. I think in total we spent $300 on all the dinnerware, serving ware, glassware, cutlery, salt and pepper shakers & glass water bottles.
Dinner plates.
I think I will leave it there for today and do my next wedding blog at a later date, I still have plenty of ideas on saving you money for your next party/ wedding ;-)

I used to scrapbook.........

I remember loving it, I remember messy tables and floors from paper off cuts. I remember colourful pages, beautiful photos and the fun of being involved in lots of online forums. Over the last couple of years somewhere in the middle of a lot of pain and upheaval in my life I stopped. I stopped the forums, cutting paper, taking photos, painting and enjoying my hobby. I don't know when exactly it happened I just know that it happened. The last few weeks I have found myself looking at the blogs of scrapbookers that inspired me in the past, pulling out photos that I took moons ago and new ones from my recent wedding. I feel settled enough in my heart and soul to take up this hobby once more, to just let me flow onto the pages again, to not let my old self doubts come back and cripple me.
Here is a page I did last week, it is of my youngest daughter I completed to enter in a challenge site a fiend had on facebook. You needed to be inspired by this mood board at Scrap Around the World

The colours are what captured my attention, I love using kraft and the beautiful deep gold just seemed so close to my Kraft, the mustards and teals are divine. The spotted spray of the picture in the left hand corner had me playing with my mists.
I have always had issues with photographing my pages, I must remember to research the best way to take photos of scrapbooking pages.

Here is one of my youngest son too which Is for a sketch challenge that the same friend shared. Thanks Kim.
I am hoping that this is all the beginning of my scrapbooking adventure. Fingers crossed.

New blog, new beginning.

Dear cyber people,
Welcome to my world, I am a stay at home mum to 4 with another on the way, I love to scrapbook, read books, read blogs, search pintrest for new projects to try, I dream about being organised and having a showroom perfect home (alas it hasn't happened yet), I have always loved anything to do with parties and enjoy putting on big parties for my family. I adore home decorating and furniture overhauling, shopping on ebay for bargains and basically just trying to live a good happy life with my family.
I hope to use my little blog as a place to share my craft and d.i.y projects and to basically release a whole lot of  internal ramblings and share some moments from my life as a mum, wife, sister, daughter, friend and home business owner.
